2013 China's leather industry's annual growth rate of imports and exports below 10%
In 2012, the report on the economic operation of the leather industry showed that under the multiple pressures of the leather industry in China, the gross output value and profit in 2012 all fell sharply. Experts predict that the leather industry is expected to maintain steady growth in 2013, but the growth rate will be affected. According to a report released by the China Leather Association in Beijing a few days ago, in 2012, the total output value of leather, fur and finished products and footwear industry above designated size was 1,055.6 billion yuan, an increase of 14.01% year-on-year, and the growth rate fell by 11%. The export of leather, fur and products and footwear industry reached US$76.09 billion, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 12.2 percentage points.
In 2012, the proportion of domestic sales in the leather industry accounted for 72% of the sales value, which was a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. Since 2000, the proportion of domestic sales in the leather industry has continued to increase for 12 years.
In addition, in 2012, the dependence of the leather, fur and product and footwear industries in China on the main export markets was further reduced, and the EU’s second-largest export market decreased by 0.002%. Among them, exports to Germany, France, Spain, and Italy were different. The degree of decline, while accelerating the pace of ASEAN foreign trade, exports are more active, and ASEAN replaced Russia as the fourth largest export market.
According to Su Chaoying, Chairman of the China Leather Association, the development of the leather industry in 2013 not only had considerable positive factors, but also faced many risk challenges. The domestic demand market will continue to provide the leather industry with the power to achieve stable development. However, the pressure on external demand, rising production costs, and environmental protection remain. The output value of the leather industry is expected to grow at a rate of over 10%, and the annual growth rate of imports and exports will be less than 10%.
